Autumn is traditionally the time of the biggest launches in the book world. This season we’re proud to announce a big launch of our own: A new take on Nashville Public Television’s long-running book series, A Word on Words. The series was hosted by respected journalist John Seigenthaler for more than 40 years and remains a favorite among viewers. We now build on Mr. Seigenthaler’s distinguished legacy with an exciting new version of the literary series.
Hosted by Nashville authors J.T. Ellison and Mary Laura Philpott, this freshly designed series of 2- to 3-minute programs engages viewers on books and literary topics, while also introducing viewers to locations around Nashville.
A Word on Words will premiere on Thursday, October 27 on NPT at 7:26 p.m. immediately after Tennessee Crossroads and then repeated on Sunday, November 1 at 9:56 a.m. immediately after Volunteer Gardener. Regular broadcasts will begin the following week: Sundays at 10:26 a.m., alternating with NPT Arts Break on Thursdays at 7:26 p.m. , and throughout the NPT and NPT2 schedule. Episodes along with behind-the-scenes photos and extended interviews will be available online at AWordonWords.org and shared via Facebook and Twitter. Book lovers are encouraged to continue conversations about the episodes using the hashtag #KeepReading, an homage to Mr. Seigenthaler’s familiar closing line.
Generous support for A Word on Words has been provided by Judy and Steve Turner.
